Guest Artist Run Down (Macey Hahn): Emarosa
Emarosa is an alternative punk rock band. I can safely say that they are one of the main reasons that I now enjoy the punk genre of music. They are from Lexington, Kentucky, and were formed in 2006. The members currently consist of ER White and Bradley Walden, but many other artists have taken the roster under this title as well, such as Jonny Craig and Tilian Pearson. I particularly enjoy the 131 and Peach Club albums.
131is an album that features Mathew Marcellus and Jordan Stewart. This is the first album to include Marcellus as a full member instead of just a touring member. This is also the last album to feature Stewart as a member. This album is the first that lead singer Bradley Walden felt was truly his. This is evident from the distinct shift from the more hardcore style in the first four albums in this band’s discography. I enjoy the smooth ballad-like vocals that fill out most of this album. My favorite track on this album is Cloud 9; the catchy hook and chorus are extremely fun to sing and listen to. Overall, this album is telling of the member’s skill in righting different harmonies.
Peach
Club is the first album to feature Robert Joffred on bass
and backing vocals. Peach Club is the most pop style of music in their lineup
until this point. There are a lot of synths in this album. My favorite songs on
this album are xo,
Givin’
up, and Cautious.
They are probably my favorite songs to sing along to from this band. The poppy
feel lends itself very well to this aspect. This album also hints at an 80’s
vibe, at least it does to me. 80’s music is always a plus, so they get kudos
from me for including that aspect.
Emarosa is engrossing
and exciting, so I implore anyone who reads this to check them out. Also, I
would like to thank Coty for allowing me to contribute this guest blog to his work.
