Entertainment Industry Mindsets: Start-Up Mindset
Start-up Mindset
Silver Lights is my pride and joy. Over the past 4-5years, I spent countless hours studying, developing, and growing as an artist and an entertainment marketer. I’ve helped other bands develop their sound, I’ve helped other forms of talent and venues develop business plans/ event plans, and help people develop mindsets that you need to make it in such a business. There is nothing I love more than giving someone advice and watching them excel. That’s where the blog comes in. I’m going to put the knowledge I’ve earned over the last 5 years about mindsets, music production, and my Silver Lights journey. I’d love to hear about your perspectives and learn from you as well. We can all learn from each other. Let’s grow!
I like to start with mindsets. Before you get started in the music industry or any part of the entertainment industry, you need to be in the right mindset. Almost everyone has a dream of being a star at some point in their lives, but there are very few people that are willing to attempt that journey. Even when they do, the majority of people quit before they ever get the taste of success in the industry. Music and entertainment are tough industries to make it in. You can’t just write a couple songs and expect someone to hear them. You can’t just stream a video game and expect people to find you. Every single time I ask someone why they’re not going out chasing their dreams, I always hear, “Because it’s all about luck. 99% of the people that try, don’t make it. The 1% that do just get lucky.” This is the most aggravating statement to hear, but I hear it every time. What is, “ getting lucky?” Luck is just being at the right place, at the right time, and in front of the right people without knowing it. Yeah, that’s possible, but is it realistic? Sit down and really think about this; Is it more likely that someone went online, put content out for the world to see, and they magically were right on schedule for fame or is it that someone sat down, research what it takes, took the time to put together a strategic plan, and made it big?
The bottom line is, you can’t go in thinking that it’s not work. You can’t go in thinking it’s all luck. You have to go into the entertainment industry with the mindset of, “I don’t know what it takes, but I’m going to find out!” When you truly feel and think this way, then you’ll truly have a chance at an entertainment career.
